The Doctor enters the room and activates the human lamp.
He sits with his book. The subject is positioned by the sofa, light source held above her head, body static. She is not acknowledged. She is blindfolded, no instruction beyond the initial placement. She is a piece of furniture that happens to be biological — and the biology is, in this context, incidental.
The tape's central document is stillness under duration. Minutes pass. The muscles begin their own conversation — tremors in the legs, sweat across the skin, the specific vibration of a body fighting its own weight while maintaining a position it was not built to hold indefinitely. The light does not waver. The posture does not break. The camera finds the failure in close-up and stays there.
On command, the lamp descends to her knees. Her mouth opens. Oral servitude is performed in the same register as everything preceding it — calm, controlled, without transition. She is fulfilling a secondary function. The Doctor does not lower his book for long.
When the session ends, the light is switched off. He leaves. The final shot holds on her — alone in the dark, in position, waiting for the next activation that may or may not come tonight.
