Kings of YourVids - Finding Success as a Male Creator

Ben also known as Bootydevine and Mauve Eagle share their personal insights and experiences working as male content creators on YourVids.

Today we have the opportunity to speak to two male content creators that are changing the game on YourVids, bringing originality and unique perspective to content creation. Ben (Bootydevine) and Mauve Eagle share their experiences about working in the independent adult content creation industry and how being a man in the space can be different from the "typical experience" for women (since the industry is currently dominated by women!)

Ben, also known as Bootydevine, is a gay male content creator specializing in ass focused content. He loves rollercoasters, indulging in creativity, and connecting with his fans to make their fantasies come to life.

Mauve Eagle is a content creator who has done both solo and collaborative works and enjoys gardening in his free time. His video catalog is expansive and covers a range of potential fan interests.

How long have you been working as an adult content creator? What types of adult content and performing have you done?

Ben (Bootydevine): "I have been an independent content creator for almost 10 years! 2027 will mark my 10th anniversary! Types of content that I've done is mostly a lot of booty and anal content that so my fans love and well it is the content I am known for. But over the years, I as well have diversified my content since a lot of my fans are into other things, and it is always nice to explore my sexuality and make their fantasies come true! I do lots of BJ, and as well a lot of JOI content!"
Mauve Eagle: "I've been a content creator for 5 years. I've made a few collabs with multiple creators and a lot of solo videos."

What inspired you to start creating content?

Ben (Bootydevine): "Actually my ex boyfriend told me I was good at sex and I had a very unique way and I was so creative when having sex. So he encouraged me to try doing amateur content. Since at first I did not want to show my face, I just only started to show booty on videos, and my fans started to call me booty, that is where part of my stage name came from. I started to upload on a tube site called Xtube which does not exist anymore. I started to get millions of views and people into my content, that I got very inspired from all the love I was getting and went the professional way in being myself!"
Mauve Eagle: "I'm not sure really, it just seemed to be the right thing to do at the time and I fell in love with making content and felt creative doing it. The interactions with some fans as well just made me want to do it more."

Do you create primarily solo or collaborative content, and why do you focus on that specific content type?

Ben (Bootydevine): "Mostly my content is solo. It is a lot easier since I know my body and what my fans are into, and to begin with, your fans are there because OF YOU! So I just play with their minds and get creative in my solo content! I do very selective collaborations with established creators I know and I feel comfortable with. I do sometimes create showcases for my company TexasBooty Productions and pay talent for exclusive scenes for a specific showcase that I get to create!"
Mauve Eagle: "It differs from time to time, as I've said I have made content with other creators, they sell the best, it reaches to a broader range of fans and it's fun meeting others and I found my partner doing them. The solo ones are to keep content coming out and I enjoy trying to make different forms and different types of photos and videos, learning more about my sexual preferences and incorporating what the fans enjoy. I try to do that with the collabs as well."

There tends to be an idea socially that “men can’t be independently successful in the adult industry,” what would you say to someone that holds that mindset?

Ben (Bootydevine): "That they are WRONG! There are MANY independent successful men creators out there which many of them later go on to mainstream thanks to their independent work they have created. I have been nominated in major awards for GayVN/ AVN/ XBIZ over the years as well other independent male creators have been nominated as well. All this is thanks to our hard independent work! SO YES, independent male creators are able to be just as SUCCESSFUL as any female creator!"
Mauve Eagle: "They're probably not too far from the truth for most of us from my experience to be brutally honest. Questions like these are never usually given to male creators, they're virtually hidden on every other site because the primary audience is mostly straight males, they're the biggest spenders so pretty much every site I've been on have ignored us. I've spoken to a few males recently and it's the worst it's been since I started with sales and even engagement on social media. The one's who are more successful have an array of content with other people in their videos. With most people who do want to collab with others, the others have to be careful who they do choose so it's tough to succeed."

What is one piece of advice you would offer to a male creator that was looking to get started in adult content creation today?

Ben (Bootydevine): "One piece of advice to a male creator that wants to start in the adult industry is to get started with SOLO CONTENT! Build a portfolio of solo content, and start building a loyal paying fanbase with their solo content!"
Mauve Eagle: "Be prepared for long days promoting yourself on multiple social media platforms, be original in promoting yourself and show off your best bits. Also be prepared for probably weeks where you don't make a penny, there will be a moment where you get to that point where you start to make more sales but it won't come overnight."

Are you involved in any forms of cross-promotion or networking with other creators, and if so, do you find it’s hard to find promotional opportunities due to the independent adult industry having a large ratio of solo female performers? If it is hard, what do you do to overcome that difficulty?

Ben (Bootydevine): "The networking I do with other creators is only when attending industry events, such as XBIZ Miami! That show for me is great for networking and getting to know other creators! Though, yes it is hard for a male creator specially a solo male creator to have the promotional opportunities a solo female creator has. To overcome the difficulties, I really just act like myself, get creative! Being creative over the years, I got contacted by companies for promotion. Creativity for me goes a long way."
Mauve Eagle: "I'm involved in many, it's virtually impossible to make it without being in them. A lot on Twitter, a few on telegram, just to share what I offer in other places that I wouldn't reach otherwise. Most of them are with only solo female creators, I'm only in a handful of just men or male presenting creators. Again, it's virtually impossible to find any unique promotional opportunities in and around solo female performers, they're the one's who are going to get noticed most and asked the most for those promotions. Being in this industry long enough and building online relationships with a lot of those creators you do get to appreciate what they do though. Seeing them do well, I get a good feeling from it. Try to appeal to the people who are going to buy your content more, put out a collab video/ pic in those ones with the female creators in and put out a solo video/ pic in the one with males, more unique toys work well."

If you do create collaborative content, what is your process and “best practices” in outreach to people you’d like to collaborate with?

Ben (Bootydevine): "With the very few collabs I have done, the best practices and reaching out is for everyone to know their comfort zones, their boundaries and have a good connection. I have reach out to them on their work profiles such as X, a content platform or by their business email!"
Mauve Eagle: "Be professional and just ask. If you're sending a request just because you want to have sex, you're going to get rejected every time and you deserve to be. This is work, find someone who lines up with what you do, send the message and be prepared for rejection. Most people who ask, are asking just to have sex and that's what the people who you are asking are expecting, it's nothing on you, you just have to work harder to show you're there for the right reasons. Once you start to do collabs it becomes easier, word of mouth spreads and if you're in it for the right reasons, you do get noticed. Also, the most important one, get tested and show that you have been."

What fetishes, niches, and categories do you feel work best for you as a male content creator?

Ben (Bootydevine): "For me the best fetishes and niches that have worked more are all things that have to do with booty and BJ content! But the biggest fetish that have sold good for me is fart fetish content over the years!"
Mauve Eagle: "As I've mentioned, unique toys. One of my solo videos which has done well was a ribbed egg toy that I used, it's sort of an edging toy. I think it was that no one else has used one, or at least not many. Anal videos work well too, the main audience for us enjoy those more. I think collab videos work the best though, the appeal reaches a wider audience. You've gone from one type of audience to possibly three or four, maybe more depending on what type of video you make."

For your solo content, do you have any advice or tips/practices that you feel take your content to the next level?

Ben (Bootydevine): "A piece of advice that I give for male solo creators or any solo creator is for them to be themselves and get as creative as possible! There are many people out there into creativity! Play with your fans minds, get them interested in you more and more. Offer different scenarios but specially make your fans be there with you on your video! Make them get into fantasy with you!"
Mauve Eagle: "Do what you enjoy first then see where that goes. I started out just doing masturbation videos, then moved to yoga, then integrated more toys and then anal and found out more of what I enjoy, it comes across in your videos and the more you enjoy it, the more other people enjoy it. Lighting is probably the most important one, it makes an average phone camera an even better one if you have access to natural daylight. Be experimental with camera angles, you can make the same masturbation video twice and with a different camera angle one could look better than the other."

Is there a “must have” toy, prop, or piece of equipment that you think every male content creator should add to their collection?

Ben (Bootydevine): "Yes for me, a male genital sex toy has worked well over the years! Which I make my fans think it is their genitals! So it is good to invest in body sex toys such as dildos, torsos, or if you do straight content to have female sex toy body parts. If you are into anal, having a controllable toy that your fans can control will drive them crazy!"
Mauve Eagle: "I don't think there is one must have for anything, it depends on the creator. One toy works better for one person than another, find what works for you. Maybe take inspiration from the ones I already have mentioned, look through a sellers catalogue and see what one looks the best for you. I've cellotaped my phone to the ceiling so you can make do with what you have in the house, I've achieved some better angles with a mug and a tub of lube than I have with a tripod, although there is more you can do with a tripod and one with a gorilla grip."

What is your sexuality (if you’re comfortable sharing), and do you feel your experience as a performer has impacted your views on your own sexuality or sexuality in general?

Ben (Bootydevine): "I am super gay haha! I am a sweetheart and the fantasy persona I created for the content fantasy world is Bootydevine, it has impacted a lot of my fans due that a lot of them see themselves in Bootydevine and can express their sexuality and their sexual feelings. I have many fans reaching out they see themselves in Bootydevine. So yes, the experience has impacted both on my sexuality by being open and sharing with it with the world as a performer and the real me."
Mauve Eagle: "I'm bi curious and my experience as a performer has definitely impacted my views on my own sexuality. I was straight before, I didn't really think about it in any way. As I've explored more I've been more interested in other aspects and thoughts and have become more intriguing to me, not enough to act upon but more to explore."

What are the top 3 tags you will never stop using on your content?

Ben (Bootydevine): "My top 3 tags I will always use are: gay, ass, and solo."
Mauve Eagle: "'Massive Cumshot' That's probably my specialty. 'Uncut' People have requested videos from me in the past because I'm uncut and for a lot of my videos 'nipple play' because I love my nipples being played with."

What are your favorite hobbies and interests outside of your work in the adult industry?

Ben (Bootydevine): "My favorite interest outside of the adult industry are roller coasters! I LOVE roller coasters and love that adrenaline in myself for the love of roller coasters! I love myself a nice theme park and when I am off from work or give my time to self care, riding roller coasters for me is my self care! If you don’t find me at work, you can find me at the nearest roller coaster park!"
Mauve Eagle: "My hobbies outside sex work are watching football, doing yoga and gardening."

What is your favorite video you’ve ever made?

Ben (Bootydevine): "I really do not do favorites, I love all the content I do, but if it comes to choose a favorite, would have to be a video fantasy I created called ASSkkake: First EVER 10 LOAD Asskkake! It is sort like a bukkake facial, but this one is all over my booty! I got that idea because it is rare to see and there is no such word for it, so I made it up into a unique fantasy and my fans loved it! It was so fun to shoot and my fans can expect more of those ASSkkakes!"
Mauve Eagle: "My favourite video is one where I get pegged. Everything worked out how we wanted it to, I edited it the best I've probably edited any other video up to that point and I still enjoy watching it now."
